The Blade of the Jacobites
Modeled after the classic claidheamh beag, or “small sword,” this kilt pin represents the basket-hilted sword widely used in Scotland from the 17th century onward. Heavier than its European counterparts and often paired with a targe, it was favored by Highlanders during the Jacobite uprisings and later adopted by Scottish regiments. Hand-cast in Glasgow and finished in antique silver, this design carries both military heritage and Highland pride.
3.4 inches tall
Common Questions Asked About This Pin
Where is a kilt pin worn?
A kilt pin is worn on the front apron of the kilt on the wearer’s right side, typically near the lower outer corner. When looking down at your kilt, it should be positioned on the right-hand side of the front apron.
Does a kilt pin hold the kilt closed?
No. The straps and buckles secure the kilt. A kilt pin may add a small amount of weight to the outer apron, which can help in windy conditions, but it is primarily a decorative accessory.
Which part of the kilt does the pin attach to?
A kilt pin should be attached only to the outer apron of the kilt. It should never be pinned through both aprons.
